You overtook / planned to overtake unsafely Because you didn’t see the prohibitory signs / lines Look at the road for signs or lines which prohibit you from overtaking (advise)
You overtook / planned to overtake unsafely Because you took a chance and rushed it Plan your overtake well in advance and ask yourself: ‘have I got enough space and time to complete this manoeuvre and get back to the correct side of the road without endangering others?’
You overtook / planned to overtake unsafely Because you thought it was clear Look as far up and down the road as you can. If you can’t see, you can’t go. Ask yourself: ‘Is it safe, necessary, legal and convenient?’
