What do I need to do to get a PSV / PCV Licence?

Before you can drive a bus or a lorry you must apply for a provisional licence from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). You can get a driving licence application form, called a D2, from your local Post Office, a Traffic Area Office, a Vehicle Registration Office (VRO) or from DVLA’s Customer Enquiries Unit.

If this is your first application to drive a bus or lorry, or you are renewing your licence, you must get a doctor to fill in a medical report form D4 (which is also available from post offices and DVLA) and ensure that all the relevant questions are completed.

You should send the completed application form to the DVLA along with:

* your category B licence, or provisional car driving licence and a valid driving test pass certificate (from D10)
* a completed medical report form (D4) signed by a doctor
* the appropriate fee

Once you have your provisional licence you should take the relevant theory test. When you pass the theory test, you will be given a certificate which is valid for two years. In these two years you must pass your practical driving test.

For further information about licensing issues please contact DVLA. For queries about the theory and practical driving tests please contact the Driving Standards Agency (DSA).

You can use the search function to narrow down the results to PCV / PSV driving schools ( pcv / psv training, pcv / psv instructors, pcv / psv driving instructors, pcv / psv trainers, pcv / psv training schools, pcv / psv driving schools )
